This month has been a roller coaster of emotions:
DENIAL – Not believing that coach won’t be sitting next to me at my sons homes games any more.
ANGER – Hating myself and doctors because I / we couldn’t do more for him.
BARGAINING – Begging God to take me instead of him, I’m a nobody, he’s a freaking legend and has more love to give.
DEPRESSION – Cringing when the phone rang and having to get out of bed, because WHY?!?! What’s the point? I lost the one person that got me through high school. Moving here from 1100 miles away was rough, he always had a plate at the table for me or an extra movie ticket. I could literally tell him anything and he would never make me feel like an idiot.
ACCEPTANCE – Sitting around the table with the family and friends listening to an “outsider” say. I never had to privilege to have him as a coach just random run ins because of my sister. “I lost a family member two months ago and after seeing that Celebration Ceremony, I am actually at peace with the loss I encountered because of all the love and appreciation that was in that room.” To me that is why Terry McCarter wanted a Celebration instead of a funeral.
The celebration didn’t just end at Jack FM WTCJ, we took the opportunity to grow our individual families at the dinner table just as you have always taught us.We (really Tron) made a U-Shaped table so we could all get to know one another. We have all shared social media profiles and cell phone numbers. We have made a promise to get together annually because your family is OUR village that needs Every Single One Of Us.
We got your six coach, we will take care of the kids (all of them) and Trisha! We love you and I personally can’t wait to sit next to you on the bench again, eager to have you put me in.. “I promise I’ll make you proud just one more chance, please.”
